Numerology and love: reading compatibility
How Bavanga scores compatibility, which numbers naturally harmonise, and how to use the result wisely.
"Are we compatible?" is one of the most common questions people bring to numerology. The honest answer is that any two people can build a loving relationship — but numbers can show where things flow easily and where you will need to stretch.
Which numbers are compared
Bavanga compares five pairs of numbers between two people:
- Life Path (40% of the score): your overall direction and values.
- Expression (20%): how you act and communicate in the world.
- Soul Urge (20%): what your heart truly desires.
- Personality (10%): the first impression you give.
- Birthday (10%): natural talents and everyday style.
If names are not provided, the score uses Life Path and Birthday only. We also check whether one person's birth chart fills the other's missing digits — partners who "complete" each other's charts often feel they learn a lot from each other.
Number families
Classic numerology groups the digits into three natural families that understand each other easily:
- 1, 5, 7 — the independent minds: they value freedom, ideas and personal space.
- 2, 4, 8 — the builders: they value security, structure and practical results.
- 3, 6, 9 — the creative hearts: they value expression, beauty and helping others.
Pairs within the same family share a basic rhythm. Pairs across families can be wonderfully complementary, but they need more conscious communication.
Friendly and challenging combinations
Some combinations are traditionally considered especially supportive:
- 1 and 3: energy meets enthusiasm — a lively, creative partnership.
- 2 and 6: two caring natures building a warm home.
- 2 and 8: the diplomat and the achiever support each other's goals.
- 3 and 9: idealistic, expressive and generous together.
- 4 and 6: loyal and dependable, a strong family foundation.
- 5 and 7: adventure meets depth; they give each other space.
Others traditionally need more work:
- 1 and 8: two strong wills can compete for control.
- 4 and 5: stability versus freedom; one plans, the other improvises.
- 7 and 8: the inner world versus the material world.
- 3 and 4: spontaneity versus routine.
These are tendencies, not verdicts. A 4 and a 5 who respect each other's needs can balance each other beautifully.
Master numbers in relationships
Partners with 11, 22 or 33 bring intensity and idealism. They often need a partner who can ground them and appreciate their sensitivity. For scoring, Bavanga uses the root digit (2, 4 or 6) while giving a small bonus for the extra depth master numbers bring.
How to read your score
- 85 and above: natural harmony; keep nurturing it.
- 72–84: a strong match with complementary strengths.
- 60–71: good potential that grows through understanding.
- 45–59: noticeable differences that can teach both partners a lot.
- below 45: opposite paths; patience and humour are your bridge.
Beyond the score
The most useful part of a compatibility reading is not the percentage but the conversation it starts. Read each other's Life Path and Soul Urge descriptions together. Ask: "Does this sound like you? What do you need from me when you feel this way?" You may discover more in that conversation than in any number.
Also compare your Personal Years. A couple where one partner is in a year 1 (eager to start) and the other in a year 7 (wanting quiet) may simply be in different seasons — knowing that can prevent misunderstanding.
Baba Vanga would remind you: love is not found in the numbers, but the numbers can help you see the person in front of you a little more clearly.
